Sebastian Professional Cult Team 2018 revealed

A group of six inspiring and creative hairdressers have been chosen to form the new Sebastian Professional Cult Team for 2018. This dynamic team had to go through an audition process which began with an online entry.

The team is open to stylists who have completed Sebastian’s highly acclaimed and intense MOB Programme. Following the initial online application round, 20 applicants were then selected to attend a live audition in either the Wella World Studios in London and Dublin. As you would expect from an initiative pioneered by such an iconic styling range, the emphasis was all about styling at its finest; and styling at its finest is exactly what was delivered. “We were incredibly impressed by the standard of entries this year. This is a great opportunity for any stylist who wants to further their career and I have extremely high hopes for our final team,” said Sebastian Professional UK Brand Ambassador, Dom Capel

Guest judges included International & UK Sebastian Art Team member, Angelo Vallillo as well as Dom Capel and Sebastian management team members.

Each finalist had two hours to create a truly show-stopping look, demonstrating their styling expertise and hairdressing mastery. In addition, they were judged on their presentation skills and potential platform ability.

The fabulous team of six are:

  • Mary Geoghegan, KH Hair, Nottingham
  • Johnny Cambell, FG Group Streetly
  • Jenny Addyman, Joseph Ferraro, Harrogate
  • Carlo Avena, HOB Salons
  • Notty Luanthamakun, Blue, York
  • Alejandro Gerdez, Queen, Dublin

Now the search for the 2018 Cult team is over, this group of budding stars will experience an incredible 18-month mentoring programme. This will enable each member to experience different types of hairdressing education to further their careers. They can expect around 15 days of mentoring from industry leaders, covering topics such as photographic skills, wig making, media training, creative hairdressing skills, platform hairdressing insights, product knowledge, presentation guidance and session hairdressing.

The programme will include opportunities to represent Sebastian live on stage and spend valuable time with some of Sebastian’s leading artists & industry mentors, including International & UK Art Team member, Angelo Vallillo; UK Sebastian Artist, Joseph Ferraro and UK Sebastian Brand Ambassador, Dom Capel.

With an exciting and action-packed schedule lined up for 2018/9, it is most definitely a case of ‘watch this space’ for the future hairdressing stars of tomorrow embarking on their Cult Team journey.

A group of five up and coming hairdressers have been chosen to create the new Generation NOW team for 2018/19. Generation NOW was launched eight years ago by Wella Professionals to discover rising stars hungry to make their mark in the world of hairdressing.

  • Roisin Hynes, Sarah Mason

  • Natasha Cameron, McIntyres

The rigorous audition process saw all entrants firstly submit an example of their work and a written entry demonstrating their knowledge of fashion and beauty trends, their passion for hairdressing and why they want to be part of the Generation NOW team, before moving on to the audition stage.

During the auditions, entrants were put through their paces in front of a panel of judges from Wella Professionals with guest judges from the Industry including:

Now the search for the Generation NOW team is over, this group of budding stars will experience the chance to work with and be inspired by numerous iconic hairdressers over the next year. Their year commences with an intensive Boot-camp week where the team will be mentored by hairdressing icons Claire Chell (Francesco Group), Dom Capel (Lara Johnson Lifestyle) and Jake Unger (HOB Salons).
